around the block, a walk

this week features photos only taken on my phone with really bad filtering, but my aim is to highlight colour and oversaturate so is the filtering really bad ?

anyway, the other week I went and got some new tyres spun on. (the machines that puts tyres on literally spins)

this is Newtown, by the way

I decided that, since this was going to take a littlewhile, I'd go for a short walk around. notice all the colour, purple and yellow and blue and red and other colours as well

until I realized I was walking, and walking, and walking, and walking, then I was just like, I'll just walk around this whole block, which was short anyway.

and what else but tagging is colourful as well.

plenty of "graffiti art" around the streets

I thought this four panel was quite good, showing different parts of Newtown

didn't really understand this one, a talking tap with eyes and a nose. ewww, so the water coming out the tap is blown out snot. snot water ?

this one is very politically driven, if that is the right words, I don't really know what exactly politics covers but I'd put this one in there I guess

is that mount Tongariro I don't know, theres a waterfall and a tree archway and also a harbour or a lake. I don't know if that is even a New Zealand view, maybe it is in the South Island

I was kinda lazy this week and just posted a bunch of photos of something I just done a week and a half ago. next week I will update about my holiday to Masterton though, it was alright but I have some photos.

I'm gonna head out now.

goodbye people that read this, no one, but I'll take that.

Yew Near, Mt Albert

It is now the beginning 2015. Around this time people are reflecting on what they have done in the past year and looking to see what they can change for the new year.
For me the here is where the story gets complicated, but I'm gonna make it simple. It has been another great year and 2015 will only be better. I have high hopes for what I will get done this year.

It terms of photography, I feel like I have done the most I've ever done this year, only naturally since I have owned a decent camera this year. I have invested in two new lenses; a nifty fifty and a wide angle; so I am looking forward to what 2015 brings me. My goal is to get a 35mm or the Sigma 18-35mm and a long lense like a 85mm or a 100mm. 200mm would be great but that gets really expensive.

I have progressed a lot in what I do. Everything comes with experience. Learning from mistakes and bettering myself is my goals.
The initial composure of a shot along with shutter speed, iso, aperature size, exposure compensation, white balance, and focus are all things that come with the experience of shooting and I still get these wrong plenty of times. My post-processing skills have gotten a bit better, the magic of RAW can fix a lot of human errors during shooting.

Color grading is something I need to focus my attention on this year, I'm not that good with it. It would be in my best interest to go out and read books on photography. Books are very good resources for learning. A chunk of my knowledge comes from a photography course I did in 2013, but I do feel like even that was a very small amount of knowledge I picked up from that course. The course was also VERY basic, and most of the time I felt kinda like "oh I already knew that". But at the same time I wasn't really putting much into practice.

In terms of my life in general, I still don't know what I'm going to do this year.
I know I don't want to go back to university this year, but at the same time I want a decent job that gives me some sort of useful experience. Can I have one without the other is the question. I might just apply but I'm 99% certain I'll get declined. I will have to consult my results from last year(that I still haven't looked at yet cause I'm afraid it will just confirm my belief).
I am definitely going to apply for jobs when I get back from my holiday.

Which is in fact tomorrow. It is a holiday from worry for me. When I get back it is going to be full work mode. Going out and doing useful things. Scheduling my days is something I need to do. Waking up before noon is something I feel just makes sense. Seriously taking like serious this year.

I'm not gonna claim these things to be my "New Year's Resolutions". These are just things I must do.

A direction my life must take before I'm am ready to become a full time student again. I can't force myself into. It just has to happen. It will take will power.

I will continue to take photos, more photography. Taking photos for my is just time to get away from home and do something I enjoy while at the same time feeling like I am doing something worthwhile.
It goes hand in hand with hard work for me.

*Insert inspirational sentence*

Well I am looking forward to the year of 2015. (doesn't 2015 just roll off the tongue a whole lot better than 2014)
I am up for the challenge.

Pieces out,
